Kudditji Kngwarreye

Picture of Kudditji Kngwarreye

Tribe: Anmatyerre

Area: Utopia, Northern Territory

Born: c. 1930

Biography:

Kuddtji is an Anmatyerre elder who commenced painting in the early 80’s. His traditional country is situated approximately 230 km north-east of Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Kudditji is the brother of renowned artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye.  Like the work of his late sister, Kudditji’s work remains rooted in traditional themes.  His style, however, is both innovative and unique among Aboriginal artists.  It is this new approach and excellent execution that have placed Kudditji’s star on the rise.  His work is performing well in the secondary re-sale market as astute collectors both in Australia and internationally recognise the quality of his work.
