Eileen Petrick moved to Harts Range in 1980 with her Family of seven. Eileen has three sisters and four brothers, Eileen being the youngest of them all. Eileen had her first of three sons Dylan in 1994, followed by Desmond in 1997 and lastly Junior in 2002. Eileen teaches her story and how to paint this story on canvas to her three sons so they too can continue to keep their family stories alive.
Growing up Eileen’s mother, renowned artist Josie Petrick Kemarre, taught her the family’s ‘Bush Tucker’ story and how to paint. This story is an aerial depiction of her country, that shows the ripe and unripe bush figs which grow abundantly in the area surrounding Eileen’s home. Eileen is able to create depth and movement in her paintings by manipulating both the size and placement of her dots, it is this ability that distinguishes her work from other central desert artists.
